During the last couple of years many studies have been made in order to define the optimal resting place for cows in a barn. In these reports researchers have focussed on form and dimensions of the stalls. Also the required type of floor in the cubicle has been thoroughly described.
The dairy industry has well understood the importance of cow welfare in the barn. Cows stay inside more and the production level increases every year.
All of Cow-Welfare’s unique products form the cow welfare concept for the cubicle.
GreenStall Easy is a newly developed revolutionary freestall. The front and sides next to the head of the cow are completely open, and the loops have been replaced by unique flexible plastic tubes. All parts of the freestall can be adjusted at each situation at any time. The GreenStall provides cows the same space as in their natural environment: the pasture.
LatexSoft consists of a 40mm thick latex mattress with a top cover. The latex mattresses are manufactured especially for Cow-Welfare. The LatexSoft mattress has a vast capability of absorbing shocks and the original form will always return even after severe charges. Research has shown that if the knees of a cow can be pushed into the mattress for minimum 30 mm, this will reduce the pressure on her body by a fifth per cm² compared to a concrete floor. Furthermore, injuries on the cows will be reduced significantly.1
The top cover of the LatexSoft mattress has good insulating capacities. The surface of the top cover is comfortable for the skin of the cow. At the same time, the top cover ensures maximum grip for the cows while standing up and laying down.
The result is an increased resting period and a better condition for the cow, leading to a higher milk production.
In the front of the mattress a PolyBrisket is positioned. This PolyBrisket makes the cow position herself correctly in the freestall. Her back end will be outside the freestall in order to keep the stall as clean as possible.
Once installed, the PolyBrisket ensures that the cow will not ‘climb up’ into the stall. She remains at the desired position. The clean stall saves labour and improves hygiene.
